There is currently one position available working in the Low Incidence Department. Positions work 35 hours per week, 10 months per year. Positions 20 hours per week or more qualify for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employees and eligible dependents. The starting hourly rate is $22.41 per hour. You must be available to work Monday-Friday in person. The shift time is offered within the school bell schedule. This is is an open opportunity available to all interested candidates. This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List for the current vacancies as well as any future vacancies. This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate's degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. Completion of post-high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related fields is desirable. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid California driver's license. Maintain district certification in restraint reduction/avoidance. Maintain district Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation training. KNOWLEDGE OF: Bilingual and/or signing instructional/tutorial procedures and practices. Instructional methodologies and tutorial procedures and practices Data collection strategies. Behavioral principles and social interaction facilitation. Operation of a computer and related software applications. Oral and written English communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. ABILITY TO: Apply bilingual and/or signing instructional/tutorial procedures and practices. Learn structured teaching principles. Understand and explain the impact of pervasive developmental disorders on learning. Assist in developing and implementing behavioral support plans. Model specialized strategies and techniques. Prepare and adapt materials to enhance student performance. Collect and maintain data. Demonstrate enthusiasm for and interest in the instructional program. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Communicate effectively and maintain collaborative relationships. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
