Overview:
Under the general supervision of an attorney, the Paralegal will support the delivery of a variety of paralegal services and related support to members of the Network Management and Provider Contracting legal team. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and drafting contracting documents, maintaining regulatory and template updates, assisting in contract negotiations, and providing research assistance in responding to provider contracting and related regulatory issues. This position works under moderate supervision and exercises a high level of discretion and independent judgment.

Job Summary:

Conducts factual research for specific topics relevant to the attorneys case and analyzes queries from attorneys to make recommendations to address matters at hand. Reviews legal documents and organizes and maintains databases of legal documents/work products. Collaborates on projects inside own team. Communicates effectively with stakeholders, and implements innovative ways to improve processes.

  • Contributes to information and data management by: organizing and maintaining databases of legal documents and files with broad review; tracking and monitoring status of moderately complex cases and documents for ongoing matters; and notifying attorney(s) and senior stakeholders of updates and changes.

  • Contributes to legal document preparation by: independently reviewing and preparing moderately complex forms and files for certain entities;preparing comprehensive summaries and making recommendations for case/discovery strategies and approaches; finalizing production of moderately complex reports and other necessary materials for function activities upon direction and request of the attorney(s);and independently ensuring timely delivery of complete and accurate documentation in accordance with case requirements.

  • Performs case-relevant legal research by: driving the collection of factual research for specific topics relevant to the attorneys case and analyzing queries from attorneys to address matters at hand; serving as a content and case knowledge expert to stakeholders (e.g., in-house counsel, claims/risk managers) on moderately complex legal matters to determine and ensure compliance; and leading legal memoranda drafting, strategizing alongside attorneys to develop possible solutions and strategies.

  • Contributes to resolving legal issues and potential risks by: identifying moderately complex issues that might interfere with legal teams goals or activities; identifying, creating, and implementing solutions and recommendations to address issues; presenting solutions and recommendations to counsel and related stakeholders; and making recommendations for identifying potential risks.

  • Supports ongoing legal function initiatives by: owning and collaborating on team projects with impact beyond ones own team; managing moderately complex events and activities between internal and external business units; compiling, summarizing, and synthesizing data and facts regarding operations and other information as needed; independently communicating with project owners, team members, and internal stakeholders on moderately complex matters; and developing new and innovative ways to accomplish work and improve protocols to increase efficiencies within team.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Social/Physical/Life Science/Liberal Arts, Engineering, Business, or related field AND minimum five (5) years of experience in legal administration or directly related field OR minimum eight (8) years of experience in legal administration or a directly related field.

  • Certificate of Paralegal Training OR Juris Doctorate. Please submit completion of ABA-approved paralegal training on job submission.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four (4) years experience working in health care legal administration.
  • One (1) year of experience in health care or another heavily regulated industry (e.g., Banking).
