SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Paramedic Intern position is to render advanced life support to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital settings as authorized and directed by a physician and in accordance with hospital and program policies/standards and applicable laws. The Paramedic Intern will work under the direct supervision of a currently certified Paramedic or Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse in the State of PA who has "Preceptor" status approved by the institution of the respective intern (e.g., either HACC or PCT).

*Independent practice in the Pre-Hospital setting as a Paramedic Intern without direct supervision by a Paramedic or PHRN as stated above is forbidden. Paramedic Interns must always serve as an additional provider to the standard and minimum response guidelines of Evangelical Community Hospital's Prehospital Service. At no time may the Paramedic Intern be used to replace a required paramedic or EMT on a designated EMS unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in the State of PA. Current CPR, ACLS and PALS certification.
3. Currently enrolled in good standing at a state approved Paramedic Education / Teaching program at either Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT) or Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). Must also be approved by either institution to function independently with said supervision at the internship level.
4. Current EVOC certification within one year of employment.
5. Current Hazardous Materiel R & I, Operation level certification in compliance with OSHA Act: CFR 1910-120.
6. Valid driver's license and proof of insurability
7. Pennsylvania state police criminal record check, child abuse history clearance and an FBI criminal history check required.
