ABOUT THIS POSITION

The City of Phoenix Public Transit Department is the largest member of the Valley Metro regional transit system and provides a broad spectrum of transit services. These include local commuter bus services to alternative transportation solutions for individuals with disabilities and senior citizens.

The City's Public Transit Department is seeking Paratransit Contract Manager (Administrative Assistant II) for the Operations Division, Paratransit Services Section. The position directly manages the Paratransit Services (Phoenix DAR) contract worth $153 million, as well as other transit-related contracts.

Responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring transit service providers for compliance with federal, state and local guidelines relative to paratransit service operations.
  • A combination of in-office administrative work and field observations/activities are required as part of contract monitoring duties.
Work hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; although some flexibility in work hours may be necessary to fulfill some position responsibilities as needs arise.

The position is located at 302 N. 1st Avenue Transit Offices, Phoenix, AZ 85003.

SALARY

Pay Range: $63,044.80 to $107,806.40 annually.

Hiring Range: $63,044.80 to $97,780.80 annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in public administration or governmental research or finance.
  • Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Experience with:
  • Public Transit/Transportation or a related field.
  • Monitoring government service contracts.
  • Performing ad documenting field observations.
  • Preparing directive letters, memorandums, and correspondence.
  • Tracking and reconciling budgets.
  • Working with Federal grants.
  • Handling customer complaints.
  • Working with DOT and/or FTA regulations.
  • Supervising others in a professional environment.
