Parks and Recreation Aide 6

Candidates must be at least 16 years of age. Preference may be given to candidates 18 years of age with a valid driver's license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: One year experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping or in business operations. Must possess and maintain a New York State Driver's License.

Duties Description -Must be willing to perform manual work, such as but not limited to: lifting garbage cans, using rakes and shovels, pushing lawnmowers and cleaning restroom/shower building within Warrensburg facilities.
-May be required to assist permanent staff in the performance of a variety of semi-skilled trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, roofing and masonry and related work in maintaining & repairing structures and roads.
-Must be able to operate electronic devices such as computers and credit card machines, complete required daily reports and handle/account for money. Must be familiar with the Summer Recreation Guidance Manual and be willing to perform duties listed within it.
-May be required to supervise (2 or more) employees while completing small construction projects.
-Must have dependable transportation and be able to work assigned shifts. Must be punctual and report to work on time wearing appropriate attire including safety toe work boots.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain. Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds.

This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2025, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
