This is a unique opportunity to join Mass General Brigham as a Registered Nurse (RN) and collaborate with the Director of Nursing in the operational and clinical aspects of the unit. As an RN, you will play a vital role in the care of patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterological procedures. You will have the opportunity to work with a world-class team of GI physicians, anesthetists, endoscopy technicians, and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.

Hours: 24 hours per week - Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Provide general nursing care, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating each patient's needs.
  • Greet patients and prepare them for procedures, ensuring appropriate screening for necessary information.
  • Initiate, administer, and monitor IV therapy and pharmacology as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during endoscopy procedures.
  • Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to medications, including IV moderate sedation, to physicians during and following endoscopic procedures.
  • Assist anesthesia with patient care during Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC).
  • Review and explain discharge instructions, ensuring patient understanding.
  • Maintain and review patient's records and other pertinent information while strictly maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Maintain procedure and recovery areas for supplies and materials.
  • Attend required meetings and actively participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.

  • Proficiency in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to uphold quality control standards.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in interpreting, adapting, and applying guidelines and procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Computer skills required for documentation and record keeping.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have a current MA Registered Nurse License.
  • Med-surg experience preferred; endoscopy experience preferred.
  • BCLS required (optional with ACLS); ACLS recommended within one year of hire.
