Pay Range: $33,000 to $37,000 annually

General Description: Receives, assembles, and stocks merchandise in a building materials supply store by performing the following duties.

Essential Job Functions include the following, other activities may be assigned:

  • Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.




  • Assemble products, stock merchandise, load customers, load and unload vendor shipments, and handle other manual labor related duties within the store to assist the team and customers.




  • Operate equipment and tools necessary to complete the tasks at hand.

Responsibilities

Job Duties must perform the following duties in order to achieve essential job functions, other duties may be assigned:

  • Cuts carpet, vinyl, padding, and related materials to size requested by customer.




  • Safely, accurately, and efficiently assists customer to load purchased materials into customer's vehicle.




  • Safely, accurately, and efficiently loads and unloads vendor shipments and moves materials and supplies from receiving area to display area.




  • Assembles cabinets for store use and based on customer orders and demands.




  • Straightens materials on display to maintain safe and orderly conditions in sales areas.




  • Covers exposed materials, when required, to prevent weather damage.




  • Counts materials and records totals on inventory sheets.




  • Safely operates a forklift and other equipment.




  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
