Parts Store Assistant - Part Time - MR 03 - $18/hourly

The Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a part-time Parts Store Assistant. The EECS Parts Store houses approximately 1000 items valued at $50k+ and inventory valued at over $6M and is managed by the EECS Procurement Specialist. This position reports to and provides support to the Procurement Specialist.

Responsibilities

Sales and Inventory

• Selling inventory to students and assisting with monthly & yearly inventory counts.

• Tagging purchased items and adding to appropriate databases according to university policy.

• Assist in identifying and properly disposing of surplus inventory equipment.

• Assists with student/faculty inquirie

• Fulfills order requests.

• Processes exchanges and returns.

• Assembly of lab kit

Shipping and Receiving

Assists the Procurement Specialist in receiving packages shipped to the Min H. Kao Building and distributes packages to end users along with coordinating outgoing package shipments.

Purchasing

Serves as a backup purchaser to the department Procurement Specialist in compliance with University and department polices and the needs of the faculty. This entails obtaining quotes from vendors, facilitating purchases under the supervisor or the Procurement Specialist, and updating order tracking system as request come in and as items are received.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Excellent written and verbal communication skill

• Must be able to multi-task

• Proficient computer skills, especially in Excel

• Ability to interact with a diverse group of individual

• Exceptional customer service skill

• Dependable

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational or technical training

• 2-4 years of inventory management, customer service, sales, and shipping/receiving experience.

• Technical knowledge of electrical components.
