The Mathematics and Statistics Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty positions in both mathematics and statistics. These Adjunct faculty positions are non-tenure-track appointments for fall semester 2024 and possibly for spring semester 2025 as well, with possible extension as needed by the department. The appointment starts August 19, 2024. The primary role of this position is to teach, and a typical appointment would be one to two classes a semester.

Applicants should be able to teach a wide range of mathematics and/or statistics courses including courses in our Securian Learning Lab, show evidence of teaching excellence and demonstrate a commitment to working with a diverse student population. Classes taught in the SML are taught in a modified emporium style and include College Algebra and Basic Math.

Duties & Responsibilities include the following: develop and teach courses, demonstrate high command of the subject matter, have well organized course plans and deliver courses clearly to students, help students fulfill their academic needs, assessment and grading, and hold office hours.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Necessary qualifications include a master's (9404A) or Ph.D. (9403A) in statistics, mathematics, or related field awarded by the time of appointment from a regionally accredited institution with a Ph.D. preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications include previous teaching experience at the collegiate level (such as teaching assistant experience) to a diverse group of students, evidence of effective teaching, evidence of scholarship in statistics, mathematics, or related field, and effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position. A Ph.D. is preferred.
