Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. Brightpoint Community College invites applications for a part-time Admin Assistant and Event Specialist. This individual will support the mission of the college and the Office of Student Engagement at Brightpoint Community College. The Office of Student Engagement provides a variety of educational, cultural, and social experiences for the college’s diverse student population. It also provides a wide range of events and activities available throughout the year for future Brightpoint students and current Brightpoint students. This individual performs in a positive, professional and confidential manner, with little guidance, administrative assistance necessary to assist the Director of Student Engagement and the department of Student Engagement, including Office of Career Services. This position is responsible for back-end event management of Student Engagement events, office workflow, stock room, and supplies. This position enters requisitions, tickets, and inter-office requests. This position acts as a liaison between the Student Engagement Department and other departments on campus. This position may help manage some software systems like Salesforce, Virtual Tour platform, Canvas New Student Orientation and other systems the department uses.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Required: Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of constituents. Good organizational skills, time management, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to keep timelines on schedule, budgets in check, meet deadlines, be adaptable, and find creative solutions to problems. Ability to learn new technology and adapt to a changing virtual format. Must be able to work at both of Brightpoint’s campuses, and virtually from home. Occasional travel within the college’s service region may be needed. Must be able to work a somewhat flexible schedule that includes some evenings and weekends. Must be able to work with high school students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.
Additional Considerations
Preferred experience in office services, event planning and management, and eVA purchasing system. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to use technology to support department goals and objectives. Experience in appropriately applying and interpreting office policies and procedures, and having a positive disposition when working with students, faculty, staff and other constituents. Knowledge of the eVA purchasing system, HR and SIS databases, or similar systems. An Associate’s degree or higher is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel
Occasional travel within the college’s service region and between campuses may be needed.
