Part-Time Instructor/Assistant Professor, General Practice Residency (GPR) Dentistry Program, Knoxville

Part-Time 80%

  • Non-tenure track, external search
  • Helps residents develop presentations using photographs, PowerPoint and other computer skills;
  • Helps develop and implement the program curriculum;
  • Assists Program Director in the evaluation of resident training in affiliated institutions and off-service rotations;
  • Provides clinical patient care as directed by Program Director;
  • Provides direct supervision of residents in patient care, to include treatment planning, treatment, and follow-up care;
  • Develops programs for resident instruction, to include lectures, seminars, and/or clinical demonstrations.
  • Participate in educational activities of the department including advisory board meetings, faculty meetings, journal club, and clinical competency committee meetings
  • Responsible for supervision of dental residents and staff, as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Provides clinical patient care as directed by Program Director;
  • Teaching residents including lecture, mentorship, and/or supervision in the clinic and OR.


Basic Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a General Practice Residency Program or Advanced Education in General Dentistry program required.
  • Tennessee Dental License required.
  • Current DEA registration required.
  • CPR and BCLS certificate required.


Departmental Preferences:

  • Previous teaching and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Clinical experience in all areas of General Dentistry preferred.
