Womble Bond Dickinson, a trans-Atlantic law firm with over 1,000 lawyers in 26 UK and US offices, is seeking to hire a Technical Advisor for the firm's Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech Team. This position is located in southern California, with a strong preference for the San Diego area, with hybrid/remote as an option.

The Technical Advisor will be supervised by an intellectual property partner and will work with a team of life science legal professionals in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. This is an opportunity for a scientist who is interested in pursuing a career in patent law.

This opportunity also allows qualified candidates the opportunity to join Womble's Science Advisor Program. The Science Advisor Program includes a law school tuition reimbursement program to provide financial assistance to eligible employees in the program who are enrolled in and satisfactorily complete courses of study toward being awarded a Juris Doctorate degree from accredited law schools.

Responsibilities:

* Study and analyze scientific or technical documents

* Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office

* Perform prior art searches and analyses, including landscape, patentability, and freedom to operate analyses

* Instruct local counsel for foreign filings and prosecution

* Apply advanced concepts across all life sciences fields, with particular emphasis and/or expertise in molecular biology and/or cell biology

* Study and analyze scientific or technical documents

Qualifications:

* An advanced degree (PhD) in molecular biology, immunology, genetics, cell biology, or a similar biologic science, with excellent academic credentials

* Candidates completing degrees in 2024 will be considered

* Excellent writing and research abilities are a must, as well as proficiency in written and verbal communications

* Team oriented

Compensation: $75,000 - $110,000 is the estimated salary range for this role in southern California. Starting salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
