  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology or related field
  • Bachelor's Degree with TEA certification in Speech and Language Therapy or Speech and Hearing Therapy also acceptable
  • ASHA Certification Clinical Fellowship Year and/or Master's degree with TX license accepted
  • Valid Texas license as a Speech Pathologist granted by Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in public schools preferred
  • Must be proficient in using Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to solve complex problems and handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to administer, score, and interpret standardized speech assessment instruments for children

The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.

Additional Information
  • This position may have exposure to bodily fluids and the employee must be capable of physically restraining students when necessary following the approved de-escalation/restraint techniques. This position requires travel to various campuses and district meeting sites. This position may be required to work some overtime as defined by the needs of the department.
  • This position is funded by grant funds. This position may be discontinued if grant funds are no longer available.
