Summary
The applicant will be an active participant in an inter-departmental patient blood management program and transfusion safety processes at Ben Taub Hospital. Cross coverage of various clinical pathology subspecialties (i.e., coagulation testing and hemoglobin electrophoresis; additional coverage considered if desired) and transfusion medicine case review/interpretation are also expected. Opportunity exists for participation in existing clinical research as well as new projects of applicant interest.
Candidates will be considered for Assistant or Associate Professor rank for appointment into the Department of Pathology & Immunology at BCM. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and background.
Minimum requirements: MD degree or equivalent, board certification in AP/CP or CP, board certification/eligibility in Blood Banking /Transfusion Medicine, and ability to obtain a Texas Medical License.

- Work primarily at Ben Taub Hospital for the Transfusion Medicine Service with time afforded to medical directorship and/or other administrative duties as needed.
- Teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows during Transfusion Medicine Service.
- Participation in hospital committees and Harris Health System committees as needed.
- Participation in required activities for the BCM Department of Pathology & Immunology.
- Ability to cover other pathology subspecialties in AP and/or CP is available for qualified applicants.
