FT Day Patient Access Float Position (Selected Candidate must be willing to cover, as needed, in the below departments). The hours will vary depending on the location being covered. 8 hour shifts between 5:15am and 7pm.

Collegeville- Outpatient Office

King of Prussia-Outpatient Office

Primary Function:
  • Registering and scheduling patients for office visits and surgical procedures as ordered by referring physicians (generally via telephone)
  • Informing patient and/or physician staff of the proper preparation and instructions for the tests ordered, and any pre-certs required
  • Prepare patients for outpatient services by ensuring full registration has been completed which creates a patient number to be used for charging, billing purposes and begins a medical record for documentation of medical care and treatment
  • Maintain effective communication with physician offices and ancillary departments within the hospital
  • Answering telephone as needed and relays messages to appropriate individuals
  • Staying up to date on all policy and procedure changes
  • Participating in performance improvement and QA activities
  • Answer a high volume of calls, while providing excellent customer service
  • Schedule appointments for caller accurately and efficiently, to create a registration with information that is accurate and complete both for the medical needs of the patient and to meet all necessary requirements to ensure that the account can be billed timely and paid promptly
  • Assisting with questions/issues, assist with requests to block department schedule
  • Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of policy and procedures
  • Recognize data integrity fail points, communication breakdowns and procedural deficiencies amongst staff and processes and recommends changes/improvements based on errors, patient, physician and departmental feedback
  • Evaluate unusual circumstances of appointment scheduling and determine the course of action to be taken
  • Assist supervisor with other duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience:
  • 3-5 years of Patient Access or Patient Accounting experience required
  • Knowledge of medical
  • Call center telephone experience preferred
  • Significant computer experience required
  • Working knowledge of hospital scheduling system (Cerner) preferred
  • Customer Service experience required
  • Excellent verbal skills to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with patients, physicians, various Medical Center Staff members and Insurance company personnel to provide the highest quality of service
  • Above average interpersonal skills
  • Excellent independent and innovative reasoning skills
  • Above average analytical skills for problem solving
  • Works with management to develop process improvements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills are essential, as decisions and judgment utilized by the coordinator impact on the overall operations
  • Must be able to adapt quickly to constantly changing conditions and successfully assimilate these changes in their job performance


Conditions of Employment
