The admissions registrar acts as the initial contact for patients and family to the Admissions Department/Ambulatory Surgery Facility. Verifies and registers patients in the SMS system. Explains all forms used and securing signatures on consents, authorization and financial agreement forms. Verifies and pre-certifies patient's insurance information and ensures that information for billing is complete and accurate. Directs patient to the appropriate clinical area/nursing unit. Answers incoming calls to Admissions and performs required reception duties.

Certifications/Degree Requirements, Skill Sets, Minimum Experience Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Demonstrated coursework with Medical Terminology

• Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a healthcare environment with direct patient contact

• Previous registration experience with a thorough understanding of third party insurance coverage

• Successful completion of SMS/IDX certification

• Essential understanding of computer data entry in Windows environment

• Available to work rotating and flexible schedules

• Excellent verbal and written skills

• Maintains a professional appearance

• Consistently demonstrates a high degree of customer service skills
