Description

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for the accurate registration of all patients seeking access to hospital services. Will also be responsible for answering and transferring calls to the appropriate departments. Assists in up front collections at time of service.


Job Duties:

  • Performs accurate and complete registration and admission of patients requiring access to hospital services.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility for all patients
  • Generates estimates on all eligible patients which may include calling insurance companies to obtain deductibles and co-pay for patient responsibility
  • Ensures that all actions are thoroughly documented on all patient accounts
  • Assists self-pay patients with up-front financial payments
  • Assists in the successful resolution of payment of the bill in the most expedient manner, while maintaining a current understanding of all options available including making payment arrangements and marketing financial alternatives to the patient
  • Handle with Care participation annually or CPI participation every 2 years.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred


Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Knowledge of third party payer admissions and registration requirements, as well as general understanding of medical terminology and procedures


Minimum Work Experience

  • Previous clerical, collections and credit experience; knowledge of healthcare accounts receivable billing and collections, experience with automated systems applications
