Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

A member of the revenue cycle process, the Patient Accounts Manager is responsible for oversight of the Managed Care/ Commercial Denials and Insurance Follow-up Unit. To ensure metrics for denials, follow-up, and billing are met resulting in revenue capture. The Patient Accounts Manager is responsible for staff development, identifying and creating training programs and references.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide supervision for the Managed Care and Commercial, Denials, and Insurance Follow-up Units. Create, and assess, staff competencies through the Revenue Cycle process to address staff development.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide supervision for the Managed Care and Commercial, Denials, and Insurance Follow-up
Units
• Review EPIC dashboards, and reports daily in support of departmental goals
• Provide supervision over Managed care Outliers and UPL audit process
• Provide supervision for staff in absence or when requested by the Director
• Create, and assess, staff competencies through the Revenue Cycle process to address staff
development
• Adheres to new Finance/ Revenue Cycle procedures.
• Communicating with managers to identify training needs with-in the Revenue Cycle and mapping out development plans for teams and individuals.
• Use of the EPIC dashboards, and reports to provide daily management reports in support of
departmental goals.
• Adhere to Medicaid and Medicare billing guidelines
• Completion of periodic management-designated projects.
• All activities supportive of training and staff development
• Carries out all managerial directives, as outlined during internal desk audits / account reviews,
within an acceptable or provided timeframe.
• Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures, as outlined in the requirements of the
department, corporate guidelines or guidelines of other agencies.
• Be responsible for enhancing personal and professional development

Minimum Qualifications

A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; and,

Four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance or business administration of which two (2) years must have been in a responsible and managerial capacity in areas normally related to a hospital, medical center or health care facility; and,

Two (2) years of experience as indicated in Item #2 in areas related to the management of patients accounts or credits; or

A satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
