The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Medical Unit- Phillips 21

Why This Role Is Important?

Phillips House 21 is a 20-bed general medicine unit committed to delivering high quality patient care that is focused on the unique, individualized needs of patients with a wide variety of acute medical illnesses and chronic diseases. Patients are admitted to the hospitalist service and care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team. The nursing staff is highly regarded by physicians and other interdisciplinary colleagues for their clinical expertise in caring for patients at every point on the adult healthcare continuum by providing holistic, complex, and compassionate care. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Phillips 21 is seeking a full-time PCA with day and night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage. At this time, we are accepting only full-time applicants for this role.

What are we looking for?

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
  • Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications

  • Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
  • Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
  • Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
