The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Medical Unit - Bigelow 7

Why This Role Is Important?

Bigelow 7 and Bigelow 12, are a combined unit of Emergency Department Observation (EDOU) patients, who are Adult medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and neurology patients from the Emergency Department that need only a short stay at MGH. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Bigelow 7 is seeking a PCA, with Day and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

What are we looking for?

• PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
• Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications

• Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
• Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
• Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
