The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Cardiac Surgical Stepdown Unit - Ellison 8

Why This Role Is Important?

Ellison 8, is a thirty six bed adult Cardiac Surgical Step Down Unit. Patients are primarily admitted post operatively from the Blake 8 - Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Patients are also admitted pre-op for cardiac surgery. Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital heart disease, lethal arrhythmias, S/P coronary bypass graft, S/P valve replacement, ACID placement, and permanent pacemaker placement.. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. Ellison 8 is seeking a per diem PCA, with Day, Evening or Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Schedule

  • Day (7a-7pm) Evening, (3pm-11pm) and Night (7pm-7am) shifts are available
  • Rotational holiday and weekend schedule


What are we looking for?

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.
  • Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

Qualifications

  • Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.
  • Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR
  • Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
