Patient Care Technician

Description

Duties:

Demonstrates compliance with the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns, and reports suspected violations.

Following standard work, assists patients to exam/procedure rooms; obtains patient-reported medical and social history, vital signs, height and weight as needed, patient-reported allergy information, and medication reconciliation information, and records data in the EHR.

Transcribes orders into the EHR, such as films, x-rays, labs, and other studies as appropriate, timely, and accurately.

Processes patient referrals to other provider offices.

Prepares patient EMR charts timely and accurately.

Gathers reports, labs, studies, or other data pertinent to upcoming patient appointments.

Faxes and copies necessary information to insurance companies, other provider offices, and other facilities as necessary.

Records information accurately and timely in the EHR.

Takes phone messages.

Prepares charts for the clinic.

Works in-basket messages and work queues.

Maximizes the use of free time between preparing patients and other tasks to clean and stock rooms, copy documents, and file.

Obtains provider or patient signatures on appropriate documents.

Assists with medical and office supply inventory and ordering.

Follows the identified dress code and safety protocols to ensure patient and employee safety.

Maintains and practices professional boundaries with all patient and co-worker interactions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

BLS from American Heart Association

1 year of Medical office experience required

Covid vaccinated

Certification: Basic Life Support
