Job Description

Under the direction of the Patient Safety Officer, in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer, supports and promotes patient safety initiatives and efforts across the health care setting by conducting analyses, reviews and coordinates patient safety programs. Works with leadership and health care staff to analyses, reviews and coordinates patient safety programs. Acts in accordance with NYC Health &Hospitals, applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations and patient safety standards.
  • In collaboration with senior administrative and clinical leadership, assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a comprehensive patient safety program; assists in the coordination of patient safety activities across the health care setting, promotes and fosters a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Conducts patient safety walk rounds to inquire about patient safety events and "Good Catches" manages the Patient Safety Hotline and online event portal, as needed, analyzes event data, summarizes trends and provides information to appropriate staff.
  • Prepares relevant reports to be presented at various committees. May provide recommendations for quality and risk management and reduction strategies and assist in the development of appropriate action plans.
  • Participates in internal/external quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) activities, programs, training and relevant health care events, as required.
  • Performs other related duties.


Minimum Qualifications

For Assignment to Level II:
1. Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
2. Four (4) years clinical experience in coordinating and monitoring initiatives, activities, and programs related to patient safety and/or quality improvement or performing other
functions directly related to patient safety in a hospital or health care setting

Department Preferences

Master's Degree preferred

2 years of clinical experience in coordinating. Initiates activities related to patient safety.

Rotating Tour: Monday-Friday
