Multi-Specialty, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Patient Services Trainer to join our team. The Patient Services Trainer is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.

The Patient Services Trainer will train incoming staff how to greet and register patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner, as well as instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. The Patient Services Trainer will train how to receive payments from patients, issues receipts and posts payment data.

Schedule: Monday through Friday a 37.5-hour work week, between the hours of 8:00 to 4:00 pm. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respects confidentiality and is HIPAA compliant in all aspects of communication regarding patient, Practice and staff members
  • Functions as a member of a team committed to quality patient care and takes initiative to keep informed of new/revised Policy and Procedures
  • Completes Mandatory Education annually and attends/participates in training/review classes and projects as assigned
  • Works independently, takes initiative in completing assignments
  • Works with Supervisors to administer Patient Services department orientation process including Part A and Part B Department checklist to new employees as needed
  • Administers training in Registration, Insurance, Scheduling, Testing, Cash Control, etc. Training Modules to new and existing employees in Patient Services individually or in group settings
  • Administers Patient Services Competency Tests to new and existing employees upon completion of Training Modules i.e. Healthstream and as required
  • Works with Director and Supervisors to identify areas in need of retraining and provide additional education to all staff as needed
  • Monitors all Patient Services staff compliance through audits of encounters, fee tickets, Significant Events, reports and on-site departmental observation audits to insure quality, accuracy, and compliance with registration and billing requirements
  • Provide feedback from training classes and competencies as it relates to Patient Services policies and procedures and provide to administration for Performance Evaluation purposes
  • Develop and administer training classes for new or revised processes to Patient Services staff, i.e. Phreesia, EPM/Siemens Upgrades, Performance Improvement Initiatives, Insurance Updates, etc.
  • Works with Patient Accounts staff to communicate policy and procedure to Patient Services and identifies opportunities for training to insure quality, accuracy, and compliance with billing requirements
  • Works with leadership to communicate policy and procedure to Patient Services staff and identifies opportunities for training to insure quality and accuracy
  • Participates actively in team meetings/ development, quality improvement process, productivity improvement process, and workflow improvement
  • Implement and support the LEAN processes i.e. Standard work, Huddles, etc.
  • Actively demonstrates good oral and written communication skills with both internal and external customers
  • Travel to Integrated offices to offer support and training to new staff
  • Demonstrates flexibility in schedule and travel to meet patient and office needs
  • Performs other tasks as required for the effective and efficient functioning of the Practice when directed to do so by Supervisory and Managerial personnel
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 2+ years of experience as a Patient Services Representative or a Patient Care Coordinator
  • 1+ years of experience having the ability to demonstrate and apply strong knowledge of registration policy and procedure with emphasis on Insurance, Scheduling and Cash Control
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (including Microsoft Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time to train other offices within Crystal Run

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a receptionist in a healthcare setting
  • Experience working with an electronic health records
  • Knowledge and ability to learn and apply job functions, and minimal medical terminology knowledge

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, personnel and support agencies
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability to cope with the mental stress of the position
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers

New York Residents Only: The salary range for New York residents is $16.54 to $32.55 per hour.
