Works under general supervision & requires considerable knowledge of payroll processing & accounting; human capital management software (e.g., PeopleSoft HCM, Kronos UKG); utilizes Kronos UKG to prepare & approve CSRAB bi-weekly payroll & provide assistance to agency payroll &/or human resources staff to ensure compliance with State payroll policies, rules, regulations &/or directives.

Assists newly hired employees with benefits enrollment, checking for completeness & obtains any required information from employees; assists all employees with benefits related questions; performs clerical tasks related to employee benefits activities (e.g., maintains files, receives correspondence & calls regarding benefits issues); assists in preparing & maintaining records, data, documentation & reports regarding telephone calls, correspondence, in person contacts & actions; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of state employee benefits (e.g., health & life; disability/workers' compensation; case management; applicable benefit laws & rules; unemployment; public relations/customer service. Knowledge of Kronos UKG as well as HCM. Knowledge of state payroll processing procedures. Skill in operation of word processing equipment/personal computer; operation of computer, photocopier & facsimile equipment. Ability to gather relevant data to discuss nature of inquiry/complaint, conduct necessary research/retrieval of data, & provide appropriate response verbally &/or in writing or refer customer to appropriate staff member; prepare routine & sensitive correspondence in response to inquiries; handle routine & sensitive inquiries from & contacts with CSRAB employees, DAS counterparts, insurance carriers & third-party administrators; cooperate with co-workers on group projects.

Prefer at least three years of experience in a similar role for the State of Ohio or other government agency or office.
