What You'll Do:

Supports the Office of Whole Child Supports by implementing policies and procedures relating to the education of the whole child with a focus on emotional development and behavioral issues:
  • Provides statewide administrative and educational technical assistance to school districts and parent groups regarding the assessment and intervention strategies in areas of social and emotional behavior;
  • Provides professional development opportunities to school personnel on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), social-emotional learning and other related topics;
  • Assists ESCs, SSTs, and local districts with the acquisition and utilization of PBIS data systems, (e.g. PBISApps);
  • Collaborates Ohio PBIS Network in developing trainings, resources, on-line resources, and family friendly information associated with PBIS;
  • Consults with school administrators and special education personnel regarding the development and management of effective interventions for students suspected of having a disability;
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to districts and parents in the identification and eligibility criteria for students with disabilities;
  • Develops and manages effective services for students with disabilities;
  • Makes recommendations on the development of rules, policies and procedures for the administration of technical assistance statewide to school districts, superintendents, administrators, special education personnel and pupil personnel with regard to federal and state policies and procedures;
Participates in inter-agency workgroups aligning PBIS with the whole child and other related agency initiatives.
  • Administers and participates in statewide comprehensive school monitoring reviews for compliance of policy, state and federal rules and regulations;
  • Responsible for collecting and reporting state and federal PBIS requirements;
  • Provides technical assistance and training to regional State Support Teams (SST);
  • Interprets and implements policies related to statewide programs and administration of programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
  • Participates and organizes statewide meetings for administrators, teachers and parents of children with disabilities;
  • Conducts workshops and makes presentations.

Qualifications
6 years experience in an educational setting, in one or more of the following areas:
  • School counselor, school social worker, school psychologist, mental health or behavioral specialist, dean of students, teacher, administrator, prevention specialist).
  • Experience in developing and implementing programs and supports in a school to address the needs of the whole child (i.e., social-emotional, behavioral and mental health).
