Job Summary

Michigan Medicine is currently hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for the new Ypsilanti Health Center (300 W. Michigan Ave.) We are actively seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and patient & family-oriented individuals who will share in the goal of creating the ideal experience for our patients, families, and employees.

Therapist will provide direct patient care utilizing evidence-based treatment, designed to restore and maximize performance, using pediatric interventions, exercises, and modalities. This position will primarily focus on supporting the needs of patients with autism and their families. This Occupational Therapy position will work closely with a Speech Language Pathology partner within our STEPs early intervention Autism Program planned to be offered at the location. The STEPS Program is targeted to meet the needs of patients with autism who are of preschool age. Individual and/or co-treat patient care models to support a broader range of patient ages will also be a component of this OT staff member?s day.

Responsibilities*

You will provide direct patient care, utilizing evidence based treatment, designed to restore and maximize performance, using indicated pediatric interventions, in coordination with a multi-disciplinary team.

Required Qualifications*

Occupational Therapist Requirements:
  • Master of Science Degree in occupational Therapy or higher
  • Current Michigan Occupational Therapist License
  • Registered member of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy- NBCOT

Graduate Non Certified Patient Care Professional:

An associate or bachelor?s degree in a recognized field of science or learning which is directly related to the duties of the position, as well as any necessary post graduate learning and are actively pursuing the appropriate certification/registration/licensure for their profession is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Minimum of 1-year pediatric rehabilitation (occupational therapy) experience in a medical setting
  • Experience with the following standardized measurement tools:
    • Peabody
    • GMFM
    • BOT-2
    • Sensory Profile

Experience with any or all of the following across the pediatric continuum:
  • Feeding across the pediatric and adolescent span of development (0 months - 21 years)
  • Autism
  • Sensory Integration
  • Neurologic and Genetic diagnoses
  • Developmental diagnoses
  • Orthopedic diagnoses including hand therapy
  • Splinting
  • Casting
  • Chronic pain, pain syndromes


Work Schedule

This is a fulltime, 40 hour per week position. A four, ten-hour day schedule is a requirement of this position. Clinic hours of operation are Monday through Friday, Facility Hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am to 7:00pm. Applicants must have availability to work within the hours of operation Monday-Friday. At this time, there are no weekend requirements.
