Job Summary/Basic Functions

Peer Career Consultant (PCCs) are undergraduate students who serve as pivotal members of the Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) team. In addition to serving as the front-line contact for students, parents, alumni, and employers, PCCs also serve a critical role in many other functions of the Career Center. They are trained to develop the skills and expertise needed to assist their peers with career-related needs.

Required Experience:

While candidates with some or all of the qualifications listed above will be given preference, there is no experience that is absolutely required, and you will be trained.

Additional Considerations:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conducting drop-in hours, assisting students in 1:1 meetings on topics such as:
• Resume Review
• Cover Letter Review
• Handshake System Overview
• Handshake Profile Completion

In addition, PCCs will be trained to:

• Contribute to Career Center social media by developing and being featured in social media posts and reels
• Assist with workshops and presentations
• Attend regular trainings
• Assist with CCPD events such Career Fairs
• Represent the CCPD at branded tabling at UMW events such as Admissions Open Houses and answer questions from prospective/admitted students and guests
• Act as a front-line employer liaison
• Staff the reception area: answering phones, greet guests who arrive in person, check in students and alumni for appointments, and notify coaches that appointments have arrived
