Function as an integral member of the Crisis Center interdisciplinary team to maximize care for the clients.

VITAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcomes clients to the Crisis Center, conveys they are in a safe place and develops a supportive rapport.
- De-escalates clients as needed and interacts with clients from a posture of dignity and respect.
- Provides information and supports clients while making referrals to community services they prefer.
- Contributes to the Crisis Center's interdisciplinary treatment team decisions to maximize care for clients.
- Communicates with clients re: all options, aligning with their preferences whenever possible.
- Collaborates with client in creating and implementing a safety plan.
- Develops a discharge plan with the client.
- Provides follow up to clients post discharge, assisting them in accessing services and navigating barriers.
- Interacts with clients as peers by sharing common experiences.
- Assists clients in understanding and managing their symptoms.
- Assists clients in connecting with self-help groups when appropriate.
- Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
- Participates in weekly clinical supervision with appropriately licensed/certified staff.
- Acts as an advocate for the client regarding needs, preferences, rights and responsibilities.
- Assist clients in gaining access to local programs and services, as well as tracking of client follow up.
- Completes electronic and paper medical record documentation as required.
- Attends staff meetings and crisis debriefings as scheduled.
- Interacts with clients supportively while performing necessary tasks such as contraband search, close observations, environmental checks, meals, paperwork.
- Communicates and documents critical incidents to supervisors regarding either employees or clients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma required.
- Peer Recovery Coach Certification required.
- CPR Certification is required.
- CPI certification is required.
- One year of experience in mental health, peer coaching or related experience is preferred.
- Must have lived experience and be in long-term recovery (at least 3 years) from mental illness/substance abuse.
