Meta is seeking a Performance and Capacity Engineer to join the Capacity Team to focus on site-wide capacity planning and fulfillment, system building and tooling development. This person would be required to work cross-functionally with a number of teams to ensure optimal operation and growth of our computing resources from both a cost and technology perspective. Tens of billions of user requests, hundreds of petabytes of data, thousands of giga bps of network flow. Help build one of the largest Internet services in the world! This position is full-time.

Performance and Capacity Engineer, Fulfillment Responsibilities


  • Work with Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale one of the largest infrastructure in the world

  • Develop tooling & automation and optimize for capacity accounting, resource management and infrastructure operations

  • Plan the largest server and data center capacity: Own and drive Meta's capacity planning and execution work for its infrastructure and recommend DC expansion plan

  • Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with systems, network, application operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions

  • Tackle and analyze operational issues in the Meta's infrastructure


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling

  • 5+ years experience in coding & scripting languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, PHP, Python or Perl. Database experience

  • 5+ years of experience in performance or software engineering

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Analytical and problem solving skills


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in infrastructure operations and technical infrastructure knowledge

  • Experience working with distributed systems at scale

  • Understanding of infrastructure capacity management tools and processes

  • Experience working on ambiguous problems and managing uncertainty

  • Interpersonal and communication skills
