What You Will Do
  • The PI/ Data Coordinator works in collaboration with the clinical and quality leadership and is responsible for the coordination of Performance Improvement and Patient Safety. The PI coordinator facilitates efficient, effective and quality care for the patient population utilizing advanced education, mentoring and clinical skills. The coordinator participates in activities to identify and monitor patient outcomes, complications and deviations in established standards and policies. Collaborates with the entire multi-disciplinary team to monitor patient progress and outcomes as well as appropriate resource utilization.
  • Collects and analyzes data that supports performance improvement and research by identifying variations in patient care delivery and measures clinical outcome parameters and benchmarks. Completes concurrent review of cases to identify quality, timeliness and systems issues related to care of the patient. Tracks and reports any identified quality of care issues including sentinel events, deaths transfers and complications. Works in collaboration with the staff to compile reports for the leadership meetings and peer/case reviews.
  • Functions as a mentor and resource for staff and ancillary health care personnel involved in the care of the patient. Participates in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs for staff and the local community.
  • Assists in the development, maintenance, review and updating of departmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Participates and supports research activities
  • Participates and assists in preparation for regulatory visits and departmental functions as needed.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.


Qualifications:
Education
  • RN (Required) or
  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred) or
  • (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)

Work Experience
  • 3+ years clinical experience (Required) and
  • Previous experience in caring for the patient population (Preferred) and
  • Previous experience with Performance Improvement/ Quality (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Computer skill (Word, Excel, Power Point) (Required proficiency)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (Required proficiency)
  • Prior EMR Experience (Preferred proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License Upon Hire (Required) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Appropriate certification for the patient population (ex: BLS, PALS, PCAR/TCAR, TNCC) within 1 Year (Preferred)
