Responsibilities

The Oklahoma Heart Hospital is seeking a full-time staff perfusionist to replace a retiring member of our six-member team. We provide cardiac services for two campuses in the Oklahoma City area. Our caseload, performed by five Cardiothoracic surgeons, consists of CABGS, OPCABS, valve procedures and aortic procedures. We also provide in-house standby for various select procedures. Our caseload averages approximately 1250 surgical procedures with and additional 250+ standby cases annually.

The ideal candidate for this position must be reliable, a strong team player, have a great attitude and work ethic and must be confident to operate independently. We prefer a candidate that is ABCP certified with a minimum of 2 years' experience. An Oklahoma License is also required.

The OHH Perfusionist conducts clinical perfusion and ensures the safe management of physiologic functions by monitoring the necessary parameters during cardiopulmonary bypass, administer blood products, anesthetic agents or drugs through the perfusion circuit under the supervision of a surgeon or cardiac anesthesiologist. Be available (on Hospital premises) for follow-up care until released by the primary surgeon or treating physician. Perform the initial set up and timing of an intra-aortic balloon pump. Operate blood salvage system during both cardiac and non-cardiac cases. ECMO. Perform reversal of Heparin to protamine tests. Perform tests to determine Active Clotting Time. Operate left and right Heart Assist Devices.

Qualifications

Basic Education and Training: The applicant must demonstrate successful completion of an accredited school of cardiovascular perfusion. ABCP certified with a minimum of 2 years' experience. An Oklahoma License is also required.

Documentation of a minimum of seventy-five (75) clinical perfusions performed during the education program if not certified by American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. (Exceptions to this requirement may be made only by the Board of Managers after recommendation of the Medical Executive Committee upon review of evidence demonstrating the completion of comparable training/experience.)

Certification: Preferred certification in Clinical Perfusion by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
