Position Summary:

Undergeneral direction, provides prescribed medications and pharmaceutical productsfor adequate patient care according to professional standards and practices.Advises/consults with medical staff, other health professionals, patients andfamilies on pharmaceutical and patient care issues.

Job Specific Dutiesand Responsibilities:

1. Prepares medications by reviewing and interpretingphysician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
2. Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, andlabeling pharmaceuticals.
3. Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies;advising interventions.
4. Completes pharmacy operational requirements byorganizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparationand labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, andinspections.
5. Provides pharmacological information by answeringquestions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients ondrug therapies.
6. Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge byparticipating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns,externs, residents, and health care professionals.

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with BS Pharm or PharmD Degree
• Completion of pharmacy internship and holds state licensure

Preferred:

• One year of hospital pharmacy experience
