Job Summary:

The Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible to provide expert-level data analysis and insights to support decision-making and optimize business operations. The individual will be innovative, investigative and creative in mining both internal and external raw data from various technology platforms and sources to meet overall business needs. The role involves designing and implementing analytical methodologies and tools to extract, transform, and analyze large volumes of healthcare data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), dispensing & claims databases, pharmaceutical & biotech companies, third party payers, pharmacy services administrative organizations, accreditation data administrators, wholesalers and other healthcare datasets. The individual will apply advanced analytics techniques, such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and natural language processing, to uncover deeper insights and develop innovative solutions. The Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with data transmission requirements and privacy regulations, such as HIPAA. The position will collaborate with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to effectively communicate data-driven insights. The analytical expertise will be crucial in identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in business operations, financial and other data. The Healthcare Data Analyst will provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, patient care, and safety. The position will collaborate with other internal and external data analysts, data scientists, and business intelligence teams to facilitate and develop newer business analytics in a changing environment. The Healthcare Data Analyst will stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare analytics and contribute to the development and implementation of data management and process improvement initiatives. The individual will play a crucial role in driving data-informed decision-making across the business and improving healthcare outcomes and service levels for patients and clients. The Healthcare Data Analyst will both provide and participate in the development of new solutions critical to the business.

Essential Functions:
  • Gathering and organizing healthcare data from various sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), dispensing & claims databases, financials, vendors, surveys, and other relevant data sets. Ensuring data quality and integrity by performing data validation, cleansing, and transformation processes.
  • Applying statistical techniques and models to analyze healthcare data, such as descriptive statistics, regression analysis, time series analysis, clustering, and predictive modeling as appropriate. Identifying patterns, trends, and correlations within the data to derive meaningful insights. Pro-actively raise awareness to negative trends for prompt interventions and corrective actions.
  • Creating clear and effective visual representations of data using charts, graphs, dashboards, and other visual tools. Presenting complex analytical findings in a simplified manner to stakeholders, enabling them to understand and interpret the information easily.
  • Developing and implementing metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business and other healthcare processes and interventions. Monitoring and reporting on performance outcomes to identify areas for improvement and track progress over time.
  • Utilizing advanced analytics techniques, such as machine learning and predictive modeling, to forecast future healthcare trends, patient outcomes, and resource utilization. Assisting in proactive decision-making and resource allocation based on predictive insights
  • Extract, validate and maintain accurate and timely reporting of internal and external data submissions (Business Operations, Finance, Clinical, Third party data aggregators, Pharma and Biotech partners, Accreditation Data aggregators, Providers and other stakeholders).
  • Conduct ad-hoc reporting to facilitate business programs. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assist business in identifying trends for performance improvement, including business capture, operational efficiencies and cost reduction
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant data protection regulations (e.g. HIPAA) and maintaining compliance with data security and privacy standards. Implementing appropriate safeguards to protect sensitive healthcare and business information.
  • Analyze and interpret data and results from external organizations, such as, but not limited to, URAC, TJC, Pharma Data Aggregators, Pharmaceutical & Biotech Manufacturers, Third Party Payers, Wholesalers, TPA's etc. Actively participate in business initiatives tied to operations, growth, quality, accreditation, finance, etc.


Qualifications

  • Requires a BS in Pharmacy with an advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years hospital pharmacy and information systems preferred.
  • Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Proficiency with other data analytics tools (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI or similar)
  • Advanced capabilities with Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong understanding of relational database fundamentals.
  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to work independently and systematically to analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and successfully collaborate to devise and/or implement solutions effectively.
  • Knowledge of Qlik, Tableau, Power BI or similar is preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Ability to lead projects and initiatives without authority.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong presentation skill and excellent written & verbal communication skills.
