Coordinates and performs the technical duties related to drug distribution and dispensing as a member of the pharmaceutical team to improve the outcome and quality of patient care, under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. These functions are performed in accordance with Georgetown's philosophy, policies, procedures and policies.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED HS graduate required
  • Some college preferred
Experience
  • 3-4 years of hospital pharmacy experience (with IV admixture) required
DC Pharmacy Licenses and Certifications required
  • PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech (CPHT) preferred or
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must have ability to utilize computer equipment, prepackaging machines, needles/syringes, and medication carts.
    • Needs basic mathematical skills and a working knowledge of the metric system.
    • Must have excellent knowledge of drug distribution and dispensing.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred.
    • Familiarity with PYXIS, MEDITECH and SMS preferred.
  • Latrics Interphase with pyxis/meditech Correction. Keep track of admission/discharge/transfer of patients for proper billing.
  • Report writing for specific software to enhance the pharmacy systems.
  • The continuous monitoring of systems (MEDITECH, PYXIS, IPRob, SMS Interface and Iatrics))
  • Monitor and make correction of charge rejections
  • Overseeing of Drug Additions to Charge Master in an efficient manner so that nothing falls through and update the charge master for price changes and changes in regulation.
  • Proactively tackle and monitor problematic billing as they arise.
  • Perform functions of Periodic Back-Up of System to security and ease of retrieval of information.
  • Continuous monitoring of the Census Reconciliation in Pyxis system
  • May require Off-Site Training as new technology arises in order to implement them within the pharmacy.
  • Continuous monitoring and Trouble-Shooting of (Printers/Software).
  • May perform Clerical Duties as it relates to information systems in the department.
  • Exemplifies Guest and Staff Relations standards in all activities.
