JOB SUMMARY



Pediatric and Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.

• Utilizing aseptic technique and adhering to USP 797 guidelines, prepares parenteral products under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.
• Able to complete appropriate calculations on product preparation after which pharmacist will validate before compounding/mixing.
• Demonstrates ability to interpret and follow formulas for compounding properly.
• Understands proper handling and disposal of hazardous drugs.
• Operates and maintains equipment, including calibration.
• Performs general cleaning and maintenance duties as directed for environmental quality assurance. Maintains appropriate and timely documentation.
• Is familiar with, understands, and participates appropriately with the workflow process.

Under direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, and following established policies and procedures, assists in the various activities of pharmacy practice such as preparation & dispensing of medications, medication distribution, non- sterile and sterile compounding, inventory management, including the use of automated medications cabinets, handling of controlled substances, and maintenance of assigned areas. Assesses the age-specific needs of the patients. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital and state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• High School or General Equivalency (GED) Diploma.
• Current Florida Pharmacy Technician registration/license.
• Ability to push, pull, or lift forty (40) pounds.
• National certification required.
• 2 years hospital pharmacy experience or 4 years total pharmacy experience required.
• In the absence of a current State of Florida, Board of Pharmacy issued permit as a Registration Pharmacy Technician, a current/active Pharmacy Intern permit, issued by State of Florida, Board of Pharmacy may be substituted.
