Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to provide Pharmaceutical technical services at a long-term care facility to include collecting daily orders, key entering prescription data, maintaining patient profile/history, preparing receiving reports, restocking medication and delivering medication to neighborhoods.

How does it get done?

Enter new orders accurately from the nursing floors within one hour.
Maintain patient profiles including allergies, insurance information and medical history.
Greet staff entering the pharmacy in a kind and professional matter.
Maintain pharmacy inventory by replacing needed medication, monitoring and removing outdated or damaged medications in the pharmacy as well as on the nursing floors.

Residents at a long-term care facility.

Ideal Candidate

Will have:
The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
Must be task oriented, pay attention to detail, and self directed industrious

Minimum Qualification

Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician as issued by the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy and one (1) year of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Works in office area(s) as well as throughout the nursing service area (i.e., nurses¿ stations, etc.).
Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions.
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
Communicates with nursing personnel, and medical staff.
Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
