GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT

The Yawkey Infusion Center Pharmacy provides a variety of services and medications to patients being seen for oncologic diseases, autoimmune diseases, and many other disease states that require infusion medications. The pharmacy also ensures these medications are properly procured, stored, administered, and monitored to provide patients with the highest level of care.

The Inventory Technician will be a vital role in the patient care process to ensure timely patient access to their specialty infusion medications from the Yawkey Infusion Center Pharmacy. The technician in this role will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Yawkey Infusion Pharmacy drug and supply inventory. This would include everything from placing & receiving drug and supply orders, day to day management of supply and drug inventory, Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) compliance and other inventory management tasks that may be asked. This technician will also play a key role as a conduit to the pharmacy supply chain team of buyers and receivers. This person will also be directly involved in shortage management and any inventory projects that may come up as a content and workflow expert. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop an in-depth understanding of state and federal regulations regarding drug handling, DSCSA and maintain proficiency in FDA, USP and Joint Commission regulation

• Maintain proficiency in the Epic Willow Inventory module within Epic, ConsortiEx, and other inventory and compliance software

• Serve as a conduit between the infusion pharmacy and the pharmacy supply chain team of buyers and receiver

• Work with the supply chain team and their buyers to coordinate the procurement, ordering and tracking deliveries of infusion medications delivered to the pharmacy from distributors and manufacturer

• Managing day to day inventory of drugs and supplies, including but not limited to, receiving the medication order, restocking supplies and medications, completing cycle counts and triaging inventory questions that may arise throughout the day

• Triaging and resolving any medication or supply stock outs in coordination with infusion pharmacy leadership

• Coordinating and tracking down shipments that may have been delivered incorrectly or to other areas of the hospital

• Proactively be involved in identification of medications going on shortage, shortage management, inventory mitigation strategies and inventory tracking of medications already identified as on shortage

• Manage the storage of PO packing slips and audit electronic health records and inventory reports to ensure compliance with all documentation requirements and to maintain inventory visibility

• Proactively identify and lead efforts to improve workflow related problems and maximize efficiency

• Be involved in any larger inventory or supply chain related projects that would fall under their scope

• Develop and implement performance and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and infusion pharmacy processe

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

- High school diploma

- Registration with Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy

- National technician certification

- Proficient use of MS Office applications including MS Outlook an Excel

PREFERRED:

- Baccalaureate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Experience working in an institutional infusion pharmacy or specialty care pharmacy

- Prior experience working with medical and pharmacy insurance authorizations and claim

- Experience working with electronic health records such as Epic
