• Position Summary
  
  • Under the general supervision of a Pharmacy Technician Manager, Pharmacist Supervisor, Pharmacist Coordinators and pharmacists, this position performs a variety of technical and precise duties relating to medication preparation, storage, distribution, disposition and quality assurance documentation. The position requires an ability to interpret pharmaceutical terminology including a wide variety of chemical compound names, quantification of medication needs based on prescribed dose, frequency, available dosage forms, respond to minor inquiries regarding medication distribution from other healthcare professionals. This position requires a complete understanding of the controlled substance program and all other essential technician functions, including education and training of other pharmacy and ancillary staff as needed.
• Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  
  • Education: High school diploma or GED certificate preferred. Associates Degree and CPhT certificate is preferred.
  • License/Certifications: See "Education." Eligible or currently licensed in the State of Maine.
  • Experience: Experience in the preparation and distribution of medications for patients of all ages is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in an organized healthcare setting such as a hospital, home infusion, or outpatient pharmacy is preferred.
  • Understands and accurately completes pharmaceutical calculations and their application to pharmacy practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve problems related to medication preparation and distribution.
  • Meeting all requirements of Technician Specialist.
