Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Phlebotomist performs aseptic venipuncture procedures to obtain venous and capillary blood samples for analyses in order to obtain data which may be used in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of disease. Performs additional procedures and related duties following established professional standards and practices within the field of laboratory medicine. The Patient Centered Care provided to each patient is specific to the patient's particular physical, age-specific and psychosocial needs. The patient populations served by this position include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education requirement for this position is high school diploma and certification with a nationally accredited phlebotomy program such as (ASCP), (ASPT), (NACCLS), or (NPT)
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, initiative, teaching skills and sound judgment are essential.
Must possess current BLS certification.
Requires computer literacy. Training can be provided on needed Laboratory Software functions.
