    SCOPE OF POSITION
    The Phlebotomist shall perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques from patients of all age groups following Ballad Health standard operating procedures.
    The Phlebotomist may be assigned to provide phlebotomy with patient care areas outside of the hospital such as regional cancer centers, nursing homes, physician offices, and Community Health Fairs, and to perform related clerical duties as needed. The Phlebotomist shall maintain a comprehensive understanding of Ballad Health Patient Safety and Patient Information Security.

    EDUCATION EXPERIENCE
    Completion of a Phlebotomy Certification Program with eligibility for the National Phlebotomy Certification exam. One year of phlebotomy experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is considered equivalent to completion of a Phlebotomy Certification Program. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, to interact effectively with all patients and their families. An Emergency Medical Services accreditation is considered comparable to a National Phlebotomy Program's certification.
