Job Duties

Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH) and Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation (VCBR) are seeking a Trades Manager I to join their shared services team! This position provides supervision through applied knowledge of principles/methods related to equipment and repair of plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, electrical, grounds, locksmith, mechanic shop (approximately 45 fleet vehicles) and water treatment services. Ensures an equitable distribution of a shared labor force for the campus, so that the needs of both Piedmont Geriatric Hospital and Virginia Center for Behavioral rehabilitation are in place. Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating staff working within PGH and on Nottoway campus projects. Coordinates, manages and organizes building construction/renovation projects campus-wide assuring building codes are met. This position assigns work, prepares job estimates and initiates purchase requisitions, and is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating staff. The position is the point of contact for other DBHDS agencies as well as outside contractors and vendors. This position is expected to inspect work upon completion for compliance and quality.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experience as a maintenance manager/supervisor in any of the building/maintenance trades listed; HVAC, plumbing & electrical
* Certification in one trade required, with knowledge of other trades necessary for maintaining a state facility required.

Additional Considerations

* Experience interacting with residents/patients within an institutional environment
* Experience in providing supervision and/or training to residents
* Experience supervising and training others in trades
* Experience in troubleshooting all mechanical aspects of the building
