In this role the Physical Therapy Assistant will act as the patient's partner throughout the trip of restoring motion and ensuring that the client will function at their personal best. You will maximize the quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment or intervention, and rehabilitation.

Summary of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

A PTA is responsible for assisting Physical Therapist in helping patients recover and rehabilitate from the effects of a serious illness, injury or medical event, regaining their own best possible level of functional ability, well-being and independence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

• Promotes and maintains health by providing physical therapy services under the supervision of a physical therapist.

• Contributes to a physical therapist's effectiveness by identifying patient care issues.

• Administers treatment programs for patients.

• Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, and obtaining updating, and studying therapy histories.

• Evaluates abnormal conditions by reviewing physical therapist's interpretations of patient evaluations and test results..

• Performs therapeutic procedures by administering manual exercises and instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities.

• Helps patients in using supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.

• Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal growth and development information, and promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Job Requirements of Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA):

• Current Florida License as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant)

• Current CPR

• At least one (1) experience working in a Skilled Nursing Facility preferred.
