Job Summary: The responsibilities of a physical therapist include:: Consulting with residents to learn about their physical condidtion and symptoms. Diagnosing movement dysfuntion and developing a treatment plan. Teaching residents hoe to effectively use therapeutic exercise techniques.

Job Description:

The RPT is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of residents who demonstrate disorders of musculoskeletal deficiencies,neurological conditions,balance disorders, and transfer/gait deficits. Evaluation and treatment will only be conducted after a written order is received from the physician.

The RPT is responsible for the screening of residents of the facility as follows:

New facility residents: Within 24 hours of admission

Long term residents: Upon receipt of a "Signifiant Change" from and/or upon referral from nursing

The RPT is responsible for the completion of all necessary documentation which includes but is not limited to the following items.

Initial Evalyuation Forms

Weekly Progress Notes

Monthly Recertification Forms

Discharge Summary

All other required forms as designated by the facility and Regional Manager

The RPT is responsible for attending all required facility meetings ans in services,including Medicare meetings, resident staffing, family meetings,care plans

The RPT will in cooperation with the Regional Manager develops programs appropriate to te needs of the residents in the facility to assist them in achieving their highest feasible level of functioning.

The RPT will assist the facility in meeting the standards necessary to obtain state, federal and other appropriate certification.

The RPT will employ and follow all appropriate facility infection control policies and procedures and will respect and follow OBRA Resident's Rights Guidelines

The RPT is responsible for the appropriate scheduling of residdnts on caseload in addition to all required in- services and meetings

The RPT will contract the Regional Manager if productivity levels consistently fall below or exceed the standard to indicate the need for additional staffing or the need for assistance in screening and identifying resident in need of PT services.

The RPT is responsible for the scheduling and competing of in-services for facility staff education

The RPT will always present her/hinself in a professional manner including professional conduct,professional communication and appropriate dress while in the facility

Other duties as assigned by the PT Director and facility

Supervision:

The Physical Therapist will report directly to the Regional Manager who is responsible for overseeing direct clinical skills, documentation skills and the compliance to all professional standards. Physical Therapist assistant will be indirectly supervised by and RPT, will carry out treatment plans as established by the RPT and will have all documentation signed by the RPT.

Physical Demands:

The Therapist is required to perform a variety of duties relative to the job. The performance of these activities would place the job of Physical Therapist(RPT) into moderate heavy category of work demand based upon.

Lifting: The Therapist is required to perform transfers of residents to and from a varity of surfaces including bed,chair and commode. Transfers may require maximal assist with residents weighing greater than 100 lbs. This activity may be performed frequently basis. Occasionally, the therapist is required to lift supplies weighing up to 50 lbs to chest level and 10 lbs to overhead.

Push/Pull : The Therapist is occasionally required to push/pull residents weighing up to 300 lbs. in wheelchair distance up to 200 yards. This activity may be performed frequently for shorter disstances.

Work Environment: The Physical Therapist (RPT) is required to work in a variety of environmental conditions

Position Tolerance: (for non-material handling and postures)

Specific Education/Vocational Requirements:

Must be able to read,write and understand English language

Must attend a minimum og 12 hours of continuing education programs provided by the center to maintain certification

Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy state licensure

Knowledge of therapeutic techniques
