Responsibilities

Ascension St. Vincent's Health System in Jacksonville, FL is looking for a Physician Advisor

to join our team.

Position Highlights:

• This is a great opportunity for a Physician to provides medical direction for care management, clinical documentation improvement, coding, quality and/or the compliance process, while representing the medical staff and the medical community standards of practice.

Responsibilities:

• Reviews medical records of identified patients to assist with the level of care and length of stay determination.
• Assists and manages the denial management process. Reviews and offers suggestions related to resources and service management.
• Provides education to physicians and other clinicians on regulatory requirements, appropriate utilization of alternate levels of care, community resources and end of life care.
• Develops strategy and processes to reduce denials and audits. Assists with appeals
• Utilizes hospital data sources to identify & analyze patterns of over or under-utilization of services, quality metrics and makes recommendations towards achievement of those goals.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Florida Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Active board certification in specialty

Education:

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Optometry (OD) or Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience outside of residency

Additional Preferences

• Minimum of 1 year of physician advisor experience
• Strong computer skills and EMR experience
• Fundamental understanding of CMS 2 MN rule, Interqual and MCG guidelines
• Fundamental understanding of inpatient prospective payment systems, ICD-10, GLOS, ALOS etc.
• Working knowledge of organization, case management operations and administrative standards and policies
