JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. The PA will be working out of Maternal Fetal Medicine division primarily working with postpartum patients as part of our Postpartum Center for Connected Care.
Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
Performs complete histories and physical examination
Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic test
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination finding
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedure
Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summarie
Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
Cares for obstetric and postpartum patients in ambulatory and inpatient setting
Round daily on hospitalized postpartum patients as part of postpartum team with resident physicians, Counsel and educate patients and family about postpartum events, activities, lactation and contraception
Follow patients in postpartum setting as part of Postpartum Center for Connected Care and manage complex medical conditions including hypertension and diabetes and care for patients following complex obstetrical surgeries.
Be a part of current Maternal Fetal Medicine team and see patients for new, antepartum and postpartum visits as needed
Support for attending physicians for patient panels within the clinic as needed
Perform pap smears, counsel on contraception and perform IUD and Nexplanon insertion
Performs other duties as assigned
