Planning and Warehouse Manager

Job Purpose:

The candidate must have experience in materials management. Will direct and control all materials activities including; Planning, Inventory Control, Warehousing, and Shipping/Receiving. Will develop and implement policies and procedures, material schedules and coordinate the efficient movement of materials within Planning, Warehouse, etc.

Nature of Duties:
  • Develop policy and procedures in materials , inventory control, receiving and storage, distribution, material processing, and returns.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory control system for items stored in the plant to ensure proper practices, including; transactions in Oracle, delivery of materials to and from storage, monitoring of inventory reports, timely purging of non-conforming materials, warehouse storage techniques, and use of FIFO and traceability procedures.
  • Manage the Materials Planning, Warehousing, Receiving, and Shipping departments and guide staff in the performance of their duties.
  • Supervise Materials Planners, Handlers, and Shippers to ensure all necessary material is planned, requisitioned, consumed, and shipped using proper procedures and completed in a timely manner.
  • Avoid excess inventories using Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Utilize procedures to guarantee best prices and services to ensure plant is competitive.
  • Investigate and solve problems resulting from materials shortages.
  • Manage cycle count process to ensure inventories are accurate in financial and inventory management systems.
  • Manage materials from end to end, including; supplier selection, implementation strategy, and ongoing improvement across our value added supply base that drives the highest level of service to our customers.
  • Negotiate agreements and manage ongoing contracts and relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • Drive process improvements in the area of demand/commit, cost reduction planning, supply chain flexibility, and data management.
  • Define and manage appropriate key performance metrics related to supply chain execution.
  • Works closely with customer-focused teams to fully understandplanned volumes to be manufactured and then participating inS&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) meetings
  • Drives Oracle based system to drive on time delivery and productivity through efficient job planning and shop balance to meet customer's needs and company financial goals.
  • Drives P&L efficiency through cost savings programs and efficient material purchasing and shop controls.

Education and Experience :
  • Must have a 4 year college degree or equivalent job experience
  • 7 years experience - Direct experience in supervising individual contributors, clerical, and hourly associates is necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, transportation, supplier operations, operations management, cost-benefit analysis, process improvement, demand planning, inventory management and logistics strategy
  • Able to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while staying on target to reach expected goals and direct both a strong tactical procurement organization along with successfully implementing strategic supply chain solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office.
  • Oracle experience is desired.
  • Six Sigma experience in manufacturing settings, Design for Supply Chain and lean manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • Strong production control management experience that is data and systems driven as opposed to tribal knowledge undisciplined or undocumented PC methods.

Salary range: $90,000 - $125,000.
