Position Description
Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. Kinder Morgan is also the largest natural gas transporter and storage operator in North America with approximately 70,000 miles of pipelines. We move approximately 40 percent of the natural gas consumed in the U.S.
• Responsible for process plant operations at the Texas City Terminals in Texas City, TX and surrounding areas. Duties include operation of compressors, engines, auxiliary units, turbines, motors, cooling equipment, pumps, seals, valves and related equipment.
• Responsible for monitoring and controlling process variables, such as pressure, temperature and flow rates to efficiently achieve desired operating results.
• Start, stop and operate engines/pumps and other equipment to maintain designated operating parameters.
• Perform maintenance and major repairs, with the assistance of others, on compressors, engines, turbines, auxiliary equipment, pumps, process controls, and related equipment.
• Ensure the cost effective and efficient performance of all gas processing units and associated equipment.
• Monitors quality of product to ensure meeting specifications and takes appropriate actions when out of specification product is identified.
• Communicates with company control centers, business groups and other operating groups as necessary.
• Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
• Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
• Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
• Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
Position Requirements
Educational Requirements (minimal requirements and any additional education or training would be helpful)
• High School diploma or equivalent.
Job Requirements (specific experience, skills, knowledge, certifications, licenses, competencies, working conditions)
• Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software).
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge and ability to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Be available for and provide emergency response after regular business hours, which may require carrying a communication device.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position)
• Detailed knowledge of compressor/pump station, terminal, gathering field and processing plant operations.
• Detailed knowledge of gas and liquid processing theories and fundamentals.
• Experience analyzing, adjusting, and making minor repairs on compressor engines, pumps, process facilities and associated equipment.
• Experience in process plant operations.
