Introduction
The Kickapoo Reserve Management Board (KRMB) is seeking service-oriented individuals to serve and protect visitors to the 8,600-acre Kickapoo Valley Reserve (KVR). Kickapoo Valley Reserve Officers are responsible for providing sworn law enforcement officer duties on the property, including arrest authority. Officers will provide quality state service to the public, enforce administrative rules and serve as liaison with related state, county and federal agencies, organizations, and Native American tribes.
The Kickapoo Valley Reserve is a public property located in Vernon County, in the Driftless Region of southwestern WI, seeking a highly motivated, passionate team member to help carry out our mission of protecting and preserving our 8,600-acre Reserve. Come work at this exceptional property along the Kickapoo River, which contains 3,600 acres of State Natural Areas, sandstone bluffs, trout streams, mixed hardwood and conifer stands, native grass prairies and is home to over 400 plant species and 100 species of nesting birds!

Position Summary
This position will serve as a Police Officer on the Kickapoo Valley Reserve (KVR) to provide quality customer service, maintain visitor safety and security, patrol campsites, trails, and buildings, register campers and trail users and collect fees. This position will be responsible for issuing citations, investigating complaints, appear, and testify in legal proceedings, offering assistance to local law enforcement when requested, and work in cooperation with KVR staff and other law enforcement agencies. This position will enforce Administrative Rules of the Reserve and state laws, as applicable. This position will provide Information and assistance to visitors as needed and attend training as required to maintain enforcement certification, and attend training as required to maintain enforcement certification. Salary Information
The starting rate for the Police Officer (schedule/range 36-63) position will be $20.00 per hour - $22.00 per hour depending upon candidate qualifications and experience.
Job Details
Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a good driving record. The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, medical examination, vision screening, and fitness exam.
This position requires the ability to walk over steep, rough terrain with potentially thick vegetation, lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation, work a flexible schedule up to eight hours, including in an outdoor environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, nights, and weekends to meet operational needs.
This position is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year). Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions. Limited Term Employment positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.
Due to the nature of the position, the DOA/Kickapoo Valley Reserve Management Board will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will currently be certified as a law enforcement officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) or eligible for certification at the time of appointment.
In addition, well qualified candidates will have experience with:
· Law enforcement practices, applying and interpreting State of Wisconsin and Federal statutes.
