Summary

As part of the Portfolio Strategy Department, and reporting to the VP Portfolio Strategy, the Portfolio Strategy Director/Executive Director will play a pivotal role in leading strategic projects at both the portfolio and program levels to maximize Moffitt's portfolio value. This role will manage various portfolio-level processes to assist the Portfolio Review Committee with decision-making. It will also involve creating and maintaining various portfolio analyzes for reporting purposes. Additionally, this position will design frameworks, templates, and best practices to support portfolio strategy development, executive decision-making, project team deliverables and budgeting. The incumbent will serve as a liaison for cross-functional teams to implement initiatives and tactics in support of the overall strategy.

Job Components:


  • Manage portfolio processes to facilitate executive team decision-making, portfolio strategy, prioritization and budgeting

  • Create periodic portfolio views for management updates that include overall portfolio view, integrated timelines, portfolio revenue potential, risks, etc.

  • Analyze existing data and industry best practices to ensure processes and initiatives are meaningful and aligned to the overall business strategy

  • Recommend and drive portfolio process improvements

  • Lead portfolio level projects and initiatives as needed in support of maximizing portfolio value

  • Identify and assess risks associated with the overall portfolio, and recommend risk mitigation strategies

  • Develop standard processes and templates for product teams to communicate overall product strategy, differentiation, clinical and regulatory plans and commercial potential

  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to enable and embed standardized processes at the team level

  • Implement portfolio analysis tools and techniques to evaluate the performance of existing products and provide recommendations for portfolio optimization

  • Support the Portfolio Review Committee with allocation of resources, including budget, personnel, and time, to optimize the pipeline portfolio

  • Liaison closely with cross-functional leadership on the Portfolio Review Committee

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure each program has a strategic direction and to resolve issues and risks



The ideal candidate will possess:


  • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical/biotech/consulting commercial, strategic, and/or analytical experience

  • Strong knowledge in the area of oncology, including external trends and developments in the treatment landscape

  • Demonstrated ability to lead development and execution of complex plans across multiple priorities

  • Significant analytic skills with the ability to clearly aggregate scientific, clinical, and commercial information into portfolio-wide insights and implications

  • Must demonstrate previous experience in establishing strong relationships with internal executive stakeholders

  • Proven experience in analytics and strategic development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to develop and deliver compelling presentations to senior management

  • Demonstrate a healthy sense of urgency and intellectual agility



Preferred Skills/Specialized Training


  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience

  • Detailed knowledge of the drug development processes including clinical development and regulatory requirements

  • Experience in Portfolio Management for Biopharma company

  • Competent in simplifying complex problems, developing pragmatic solutions and guidance

  • Experience with designing, implementing and managing centralized reporting and analytics frameworks

  • Strong leadership skills are necessary to engage, influence and motivate colleagues at all levels.

  • Collaborative worker with a diverse group of people and expertise

  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills

  • Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity

  • Demonstrated expertise in data visualization tools



Education requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Life Sciences, a Master's Degree is preferred
